Pricing for the 2020 Cadillac XT6 was announced today. It will be starting at $53,690 for a FWD Premium Luxury.

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator starts at $51,100 for the RWD “Standard” trim.

Many have expressed disappointment in the new XT6, saying it has a boring “insert any badge here” exterior design and an interior that doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The lack of Cadillac’s SuperCruise also didn’t help.

It will be interesting to see how sales figures of these two rivals go once they go on sale. Although I think the Caddy is priced too high from the get go, I get that GM is put in a hard situation pricing the XT6 when the platform sharing Buick Enclave is barely below it in price.

So, NPoCP?

In my opinion this is a NP, it feels very solid and the interior is straight out of the ‘19 updated CT6. Comparing it to the CT6 Luxury Premium (starting $ 59k) , this car is a good deal for much of the same content . I quite like the facelifted CT6 though so I’m probably biased. GM will surely be piling on “purchase cash” or other incentives to advertise with the car.

I have sat in the new Aviator and though it is nice, it still gave off too much of a Ford vibe. Would have liked to have seen more differentiation between the two brands.

I respectfully disagree. I thought the interior of this was straight out of the smaller XT5, bad touch button interface and all. I’d much rather GM put in the XT4's new design layout, it at least comes with real buttons.

I can’t comment on the Aviator, wasn’t able to sit in one at the Auto Show, but it looks like a much more premium vehicle on the inside, at least in photos.

It’s like a reverse i8 , in that this looks like it’s vomiting a smaller car out of the front

There always seems to be this meme going around the car blogs and news sites that “ Cadillac isn’t quite there” when it comes to interior design and materials. I think a good amount of it comes from biases about Cadillac’s past. I haven’t been in the XT6 yet, but I’ll tell you why I think that those biases are likely at play here . I did go sit in a CT6 and the offerings from others in the class, specifically BMW and Mercedes. I did it at a car show where I was able to compare side by side all at the same time. I personally didn’t feel the substantial difference in interior quality in the Caddy  that I’d read all over the internet car blogs.

Anyway, putting all that aside, I personally like the look of the XT6 and the Aviator both. They are different styles. Just based on styling, if I had to put my money on one or the other, it would be the Caddy.

CP, heavy GM FWD. Do not keep past  warranty. Do not trust transmission.

The CT6 does have a nice interior and feels substantial, however the touch control are lame and I think cheapen the experience. I’m actually a fan of the new XT4's interior and wish GM would’ve brought that design language into the XT6.

It’s the wrong comparison though. What about the Q7 and XC90 for similar money?  I’d definitely be cross shopping those other two, the Lincoln...  eh, maybe.

See, i didn’t have any qualms with the controls.  I know a lot of people hate them, and it’s a polarizing thing.  If the things you have to touch bug you, you can’t have a very good luxury experience with the rest of the car.
